Young Adult Sesshin

June 11- June 15, 2024

Join us for an intensive, six-day Zen meditation retreat (sesshin) with a group of your peers. This young adult retreat is designed to cultivate self-awareness, silence, mindfulness, and a quality of calm abiding. This kind of deep practice is an invitation to build resilience in your life and to become intimate with yourself away from the distraction and stimulation of the marketplace. Following the Zen tradition of silent retreats, we will experience the mind beyond picking and choosing. Zen illuminates the ease, joy, and peace that is already present in everyday life when our busy mind gets out of the way. We will spend the week “chopping wood and carrying water,” which is to say, tending to the everyday activities of life with bare awareness.

This retreat is for everyone aged between 21 and 35, whether you have experience with Zen practice or not. It is a great opportunity to learn an ancient tradition in our modern world. The week will include: seated meditation, walking meditation, physical practice, dharma talks, mindful eating, and the opportunity to meet the teachers for a practice discussion. We will be in Noble Silence during the days.
